Efforts by the Republican administration in conjunction with Texas, to redraw voter districts in Florida for the 2026 midterms have resulted in what officials call a minor border adjustment. "The revised district maps shift congressional lines a few miles south of the Rio Grande," said State Department spokesperson Tokala Maka. "Under international law, this makes Florida a Mexican territory and everyone in it Mexicans. However, this overwhelmingly achieves its objective of eliminating Democratic districts in the state."
"I find it extra confusing," said an unidentified ICE agent who lives in Orlando. "I'm reviewing protocols for processing agents who are themselves already now in Mexico and are now Mexican, which sounds like triple the paperwork."
President Trump blamed Democrats on Truth Social, posting that "this is the greatest act of redistricting sabotage in American history," adding that he made the state one of the richest during his time at Mar-a-Lago. When asked by reporters if Melania, who had been in Palm Beach at the time would require a visa to return to the U.S., Trump responded: "Melania speaks languages. I don't think Mexican is one of them, but she'll be fine."
At a press conference Friday, Tokala Maka confirmed that Democrat-led states had submitted revised redistricting maps with the same error as the one that shifted Florida to Mexico. "The odds of this happening to nearly all blue states in such a short time frame are one in 932 trillion," he said. "Almost half the country has shifted to Canada, with the exception of Minnesota, which is now part of Somalia, and Washington, which is the first state of Mars for some reason."
