San Francisco tech startup EchoChamber VR is cashing in on real-world opportunities. “Whether you follow YouTube channels like QAnon Bunker Bros, stream Instagram tradwife homemaking for He-Man Honeypots, or belong to online communities such as Lonely Alpha Males, we can apply your algorithm to the real world,” said spokesman Arman Taylor.
For people like Melissa Hill, who loves the outdoors, the product promotes balance by applying filters to real-life experiences. While the technology can’t stop the rain from getting through her bubble of sunshine, it can prevent her from seeing the clouds and feeling wet.
User Chad Ellis, who established himself as a man by turning 18, said his quality of life has improved significantly. "I used to spend a lot of time looksmaxing and processing visual stimulation that didn’t fit my journey. This new technology allows me to focus by guiding me to places where I won’t see better-looking men.”
EchoChamber VR recently announced a waitlist of 45,000 users and a Series B funding round led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, valuing it at $1.4 billion. An independent audit placed the company’s debt at $3 billion, a figure Taylor said he was unable to see.
